Maese Lab SL, was born as a joint project between two families where we undertake the arduous task of merging technology with family tradition, based on the culture of work and responsibility to produce a high quality final product.

Our history

 

The first family was born as distillers, obtaining their first patent in 1790 issued by the Republic of Venice in Bassano del Grappa, present-day Italy. This permission allowed them to develop as perfumers, importers and exporters of raw materials and producers of extracts for the manufacture of cosmetics. Around 1900, after the Italian reunification, due to the great political and economic instability of the new country, they decided to move their company to America, settling in Argentina in 1905. They developed their activity in this country until 2005, when the company decided to return to Europe to settle definitively and permanently in the city of Barcelona, where they are still headquartered today.

Despite the social, economic and political ups and downs, seven generations have worked professionally and uninterruptedly until today. Bringing technique, invention and development to each of their products. Achieving an unequalled quality in the extraction of active plant ingredients and in the formulation of 100% natural cosmetics and perfumes. Always remaining faithful to its motto: "Nature gives us everything we need to create true works of art".

The second family developed their agro-livestock activity throughout the Piedmont region of Italy, establishing their headquarters in the Turinese municipality of Pinerolo as early as 1430 (date documented in the registry). They focused on the production of wheat for brewing beer, Nebbiolo vines for winemaking and Fassona cows for meat and cheese production. In the mid 1800's the family business expands and acquires land in Argentina. Those acquired in the province of Santa Fe were dedicated to the cultivation of cereals and those in the province of Entre Rios to cattle raising. In 1957 they founded a laboratory dedicated to bovine genetic improvement and received multiple awards for their great work in the livestock development of this country.

He held the presidency of the Argentine Rural Society for two consecutive terms. In 1958 they also founded the dairy company VIPLA, dedicated to the industrial production of high quality cheeses. In the 70's, they also decided to focus on a new crop from China that had not been cultivated intensively in that country until then: soybeans. Once they managed to adapt the crop and developed an automated harvesting system for this oilseed, they became the pioneers of soybean cultivation in the region. Since then, the family company has been experimenting with new crops adaptable to different areas of Argentina's extensive bio-climate. This led them to export their crops and manufactured products all over the world. In 1995, the family decided to expand its horizons also in the health field, founding a Pharmaceutical Laboratory dedicated to the research, development and production of pharmacological drugs.

A dozen generations of this family have dedicated themselves uninterruptedly to maintain with effort and pride an extensive industrial legacy related to agriculture, livestock and health on two continents, up to the present day. Their motto: "Ordine, Amministrazione e progresso" (Order, Administration and Progress).

Two of their descendants, one from each family, decide to join forces to create Maese Lab SL, based in Spain, and undertake the arduous task of merging "technology with family tradition". On the basis of the culture of work and the responsibility to produce quality products. With the pride of the generations that watch from the past the good work of the future.

Thus was founded the most complete research, development and extraction laboratory of natural active ingredients in Europe. With more than 4,000 references from all over the world. With its own crops in Argentina, Italy, Brazil, Spain and France. The company also collaborates actively not only in its own projects but also in those of third parties in more than 40 countries. Establishing a solid link based on the respect for the company's own work and encouraging small family businesses dedicated to the local production of raw materials.
